BLOG #5: Three Books in a Row
The pandemic had a way of pushing people to finish projects that had haunted them for years, completing them in just a single year. That was exactly what happened to me. What that time taught me is that tomorrow is never assured. With so many lives lost every day, I feel many others share this sentiment.
I was pushed to exhaust my creativity so that, if I were to transition early, I would leave art behind. Whether or not it is discovered by others is beyond me; as an artist, I gain satisfaction simply from finishing something I am proud of. This materialized in the books I have created.
As a reader and art fan, I’ve always been curious about how artists think, who they are, and what drives their process. Those questions have always intrigued me. I thought I would provide those answers for anyone interested in the works I’ve created thus far:
HUMAN NATURE: "This collection of poems is full of zoomorphism, where animals mirror human behavior and vice versa. It explores how we share the characteristics of animals while remaining divine. This 'dance' between the two sides follows a story that begins as stardust, the origin of everything and moves through exploration, doubt, love, loss, death, and revival.
GRAM SOLI: Journey to Habibu Island: "This is one of my favorites because making it was a total rollercoaster. I wrote it while deep in a state of 'flow,' never knowing how it would end. The story mirrors life’s journey toward enlightenment, following a captain’s voyage to an island of magic - a Garden of Eden - that forces the character through deep shadow work..
THE RED BOOK: "This collection revolves around my identity as an artist: my wanderings, philosophy, and beliefs. It is titled 'Red' because it is an intimate reflection of my own soul.
THE POWER OF NATURE: "This collection revolves around power as a driving force - an energy that fuels magic, violence, chaos, and creation. I believe that when power isn't recognized within the self, we try to find it through status or possessions."
I am still creating more books in the future and it is just a start of a long journey, which I am sure to be on in my olden years.
